I had high hopes for this lens as it is a great price for a fast 70-200 lens. Unfortunately after looking at some of my initial photos i noticed that the image was soft on the left side. I tested the lens with a calibration test sheet and discovered that the center and right side were remarkably sharp, but the left side indeed was out of focus. This cannot be fixed and is called lens de-centering, where one or more of the lens elements isn’t perfectly aligned with the others. Lens was returned back to ClickElectronics. I love their return policy!

The lens is amazing, sharp and focuses very quickly, arrived fast with Prime and over all very pleased. The issue I had was after arriving I registered the lens with Tamron Canada and was emailed back that the lens was a USA version meaning I could not take advantage of the 6 year Canadian Warranty but it came with a 1 year International Warranty. This was not acceptable considering I purchased the lens from ClickElectronics Canada and was expecting a Canadian version. ClickElectronics customer service said it was an error in the fulfillment center and advised me to return it and order again. I’ve since returned the lens and I’d like to purchase this again immediately but worried this will happen again and also the price has gone up since my last order.

Wow! I can definitely say that this is one fine lens. Compared it with my Nikon 70-200 VR II and a rented Nikon 70-200 E, it certainly is on par in terms of sharpness. The VC on this lens is excellent, even better than the Nikon counterparts. AF is spot on and no fine tuning required on my D750.Unfortunately…This lens is a Tamron USA lens. That means, no warranty for Canadian buyers (Tamron Canada 10 Years Warranty). As nice as this lens is, being both very sharp and on par with the $3K Nikon plus the considerable difference in price, I’m returning it and getting one locally. Regardless of what you believe, ClickElectronics.CA (sold and shipped by ClickElectronics; Prime) is not a TAMRON Canada Authorized dealer so no canadian warranty will be applied if you buy it from them. I found out after and have forwarded my concerns to them as this was not stated anywhere in their listing.Great lens otherwise, if you like gray market or international warranty, get it elsewhere. I’ve seen them go as low as $1300 CAD with 1 year warranty on auction sites.

This lens was over $500 cheaper through ClickElectronics.ca than it was at my local camera store. I had been humming and hawing about purchasing a 70-200mm f2.8 lens for awhile because of the incredible images you can capture with one, especially due to the compression! I shoot with Nikon and love my camera and my Nkkor lenses, however, I could not justify the $3600 price tag on the Nikkor 70-200 f2.8 when this one comes in around $1500! It’s definitely lighter than the Sigma version, it’s tack sharp, focuses quick and it’s very silent! It’s even weather sealed like the Nikon and Sigma brand lenses, what more could you want in a lens!? Overall I would highly recommend purchasing this lens and I will definitely be purchasing the other 2 Tamron lenses to make up the holy trinity for my kit! I’ve attached a few images from a shoot at my local BMW dealership recently! I hope this review helps some of you!

Weddings – Portraits – Events – Used for over a year without fault. For the cost of one Nikon you can get the G2 70-200 and 24-70.Sweaty technical types will and have taken great pleasure in pointing out the differences between this and the Nikon, and everything they say is right… but genuinley for the price and quality you wont notice. And more importantly your customers/friends/family wont care. The build quality is brilliant, vc is great in low light and everything is very easy to get used to on the lens.I definitely recommend it.
