For a lens with such a wide range and a very affordable price it is not perfect and lacks a little sharpness at the 300-400mm focal lengths but that is easy to sort out in an editor. (I do mean a little so it is nothing serious). It is weighty but that is to be expected and only took a short time to get used to the weight and balance. The big plus, and the reason I bought it, is the large focal range meaning it is replacing two lenses. No more changing lenses and possibly missing something. No more opportunities for dust and dirt to get into the camera whilst out and changing lenses. There are better lenses but most don’t have the wide range and you will have to pay a lot more money for them.I am using it with a Canon1200D and they fit very nicely into a Manfrotto Large Advanced Camera Holster along with a mini bendable tripod.

18 à 400… ça reste un compromis, mais pour le voyage, ça nous permet de ne traîner qu’une seule lentille et pouvoir faire face à toutes les éventualités. Très intéressante lentille.

The Tamron lens is pretty good value for the cost. Because of the wide focal range you get about 90-95% sharpness in every range. It won’t give you the best photo quality at full zoom but macro shots are pretty good. Low light is a bit challenging but sunny days are perfect. The autofocus can be frustrating and inaccurate at times; I prefer to use the manual focus option. It’s a great starter lens for those looking to play with telephoto zoom lenses. For better sharpness and picture quality I would go with a more advanced lens. IS gets iffy at full zoom so unless you have really still hands a tripod is recommended, especially for action shots.Overall it’s a great lens to play around with and what you get for the cost is well worth the investment. I would recommend this lens for beginner to intermediate photographers.

I order this item a while ago and I decided to wait before giving any comments about it until well tested/used. When I placed my order the price for this lens was a steal!; I did not expected much from it but I need it a lens with a nice wide angle and zoom on it for a planned trip. To my surprise, this lens gave me more than I expected.. I was really amazed by its performance. As expected, this is an all in one that will give you good shots.. not the best but close enough. This Tamron works great specially in very bring/sunny scenarios. The only thing I noticed when using my Canon LCD screen for shots beyond 275mm it will start doing a crazy sound when auto focus was on but nothing while using the viewfinder. Need a budget All-in-One… get this one!

For the price its great, the zoom is a bit stiff, but no creep, images are good but it does blow out somewhat when zooming in on a long range at 400 mm with a 77d, distortion and pin cushion is minimal, The AF is fast and quiet, at 400 mm it really needs a tripod or someone a lot less shaky than myself.

I upgraded to this lens from the Canon kit 18-135 zoom. My real worry was that I’d be sacrificing sharpness for convenience, but based on my experiences walking around a zoo last week, I needn’t have worried. The images were tack sharp with autofocus, even at the highest zoom.Yes, the aperture drops off a bit at the far end, but it’s no worse than the lens I upgraded from at all equivalent lengths. It’s a moderately weighty lens, but a fraction of the weight of EF lenses for the same range. It really is a marvel. If I had to find a problem with it, it’s that you can’t manually focus the lens without clicking a button to physically disengage the autofocus drive; gone are the days where with the Canon lens I could half-press the shutter button to make it focus, and then fine-tune it manually. For the same reason, this pretty much ruins being able to use “back button focusing”.This is just a lovely “walking around lens”. Yes, there will be times when you’ll find yourself wanting a little more at the wide-angle end of the range, but isn’t that always the case? Certainly, it coped with everything I could throw at it during my day at the zoo. Really pleased.
