Had to send the first ones back. Second ones are a bit better but still sometimes stop playing. My partner ordered these as well and has the same problem. Otherwise they are good.

Unsurprisingly, Sony being one of the largest consumer electronics companies has been delivering quality audio products over the years. The WF-1000XM3 is still the standard bearer even after its initial release 9 months ago, if you’re in the market for a pair of ANC-enabled earbuds, then these are the pro’s and con’s you should consider.PRO’s- Great battery life, ~7hrs without ANC, ~5hrs with ANC (Volume set to 60%)- Build quality, earbuds + charging case are both very sturdy.- Touch controls are as reliable as they get and are very customisable.- Sound quality is impressive, clear highs, pronounced mids and with a good amount of bass to boot. (even better with ANC on)- Great product support from Sony as the app is regularly updated and volume touch control was added via a recent firmware update.CON’s- Water resistance – Or the lack thereof, if you’re looking for an exercise friendly earbuds, then shop elsewhere as these are not water resistant, I wouldn’t risk taking them to the gym, especially if you’re a heavy sweater.- Size – depending on your preference, these can be quite bulky, both in terms of the charging case as well as the earbuds themselves.- NO wireless charging – the likes of Samsung and Apple have both adopted wireless charging, surprised that Sony didn’t follow considering the size of the charging case.

The headphones are great but it took me some experimentation to get the best possible results. Getting the best fit using the supplied earbuds is imperative. Initially I thought the sound was a little thin but I eventually got there with supplied buds. Further, a simple foam bud stretched over the supplied SONY bud produced an even better result as per picture. It might just be my ears!My previous headphones were the Bose QC20 bud type. I was quite happy with these until they failed prematurely just out of warranty but overall the SONY are a big improvement. Sound quality of SONY is very good although I used the eq to tone down the top end sounds somewhat. The noise cancelling on the SONY does not seem quite as good as the BOSE but I am yet to use these on a plane. Walking around the streets I can still hear all the traffic noise and they’re not much good for cycling. Wind noise is an issue. But really, they are category killers in terms of what they set out to do. Quality, connectivity, ease of use, battery life and sheer musicality all mean very much to me so I’m sure I’ll be using these for a long time.

I ordered these via ClickElectronics, they came next day and the price is great for what they offer (AUD250). I also have the headphones (over ears) version , and they are both fantastic with great sound and good noise cancellation. I just started to play, and note that you should change settings in the app :’sound priority’ vs ‘connection priority’. I have the apple airbuds . I looked at ibuds pro, but they are way more expensive (AUD390 or so), and I am not sure the sound compares to Sony. The only slightly negative surprise I had is the size of the Sony box compared to the ibuds- it is way bigger (at least double). However the Sony buds do not need the box to connect to the source, as they connect directly via blutooth), compared to the iPods which connect via the box (somebody should correct me if it is not true). All in all I am very happy, so far. And I expect they will sound better after few hours of use.

After doing an amazing amount of research before buying these buds, I am pleasantly pleased to announce that they are INCREBIBLE!! Amazing sound quality which can be customised using the sony app.. as good as my over ear headphones for sound quality but not as good for noise cancellation ( which is obvious). Will need to find the right size bud to help them sit nice in the ear. Like other reviews they can slip around when excercising however I just throw on a head sock (ClickElectronics bought) and have no dramas.. phone calls are so clear too ! LOVE EM!! wait till they are a few dollars cheaper and jump on it…
