Great lens – very portable

Small, light, fast auto focus and all at a great price! Only downside is the slightly tight fit into the camera body. Highly recommended!

I’m really pleased with this lens. Good autofocus, and capable of very sharp pictures. It’s really unobtrusive and light on my camera. Only minor gripe is that the lens cap/hood supplied cannot be used with a conventional 49mm filter, but very cheap to add a standard 49mm cap.

Great tiny lens for the A7 series!(+) I love the image quality – it’s plenty sharp and it’s got great bokeh;(+) It’s tiny – this is the kind of lens that lets you pretend you’re not carrying a full-frame camera; perfect for travel, great as a backup if you’re, say, shooting wildlife or portraits, but wanted to have a wider focal length on hand as well;(+) one of the cheapest lenses you can get;The only negatives I can think of are:(-) only F2.8;(-) maximum magnification is 0.12x, minimum focus distance is 35cm.Your alternative, I imagine, would be Sony 35mm 1.8 FE lens, for 3 times the money, 1.5 times the weight, and more than twice the length. I assume that would be optically better, but not quite as lovely to carry around – in the end it’s a question of what you’re looking for.In any case, I’m happy to recommend the Samyang 35mm F2.8.

This lens spends a lot of time attached to my camera. It is a great little full-frame 35mm lens to own at a fraction of the price of the Sony own-brand.Image quality is fine, focus fast and build quality does not seem to be an issue – the lens feels sturdy.Instructions which come with the lens suggest that the camera must explicitly be told that a 35mm lens is attached for image stabilisation purposes. This is a little disappointing, however I have not had to do this (or at least have not noticed the stabilisation struggling without that setting being changed). If you’re interested in your first prime lens, I’d recommend this (unless you’re wanting to shoot portraits, in which case a 50mm or 85mm will suit).

An amazing lens. To capitalise on the size & weight advantage, the Sony full-frame system needs more lens that are compact, light and have excellent image quality. This fits the bill perfectly. With this attached, my Sony system is basically as portable as my old Fuji system. I also have the 28mm f2 and I actually feel this 35mm is sharper and faster. 35mm is also an easier focal length to shoot with and this lens lives on my a7rii 90% of the time.

This lens is very good for the performance and the price that it is, you shouldn’t expect the sharpness or the bokeh performance of a Sigma 1.4 or a Gmaster series lens but it holds it’s own very well.I bought this lens as a daily camera carry paired with a Sony A7s and Samyang 35 mm f2.8 lens and overall the weight is very low maybe 400 or 500 grams all together and it fits in my coat pocket perfectly. as it’s compact its good for the likes of street photography or travel photography as it doesn’t stand out or looks like a “pro camera” unlike my d800 and 24-70 f2.8 lens.I would highly recommend this to someone who is a beginner in photography as it is far, far sharper and better quality than the likes of the standard kit lens that comes with the Sony cameras and not for too much of an investment.TLDR;Lightweight, compact and sharp for the size.Simple to use better than a kit lens.well worth the money would recommend.
