Updated review 11/10/2015: Am less happy with this lens than originally in the earlier review. Of course the small size and f/2.0 are plusses over my Panasonic 7-14MM, but every time I use the Olympus I regret not taking the Panasonic lens. The main reason is that the results are just not that sharp. It may be because the Panasonic works with the in-camera image stabilization better, or at f/2.0 the Olympus has a much shallower depth of field, but few shots with the Olympus are as crisp as I expect. That and that I am now used to the 7-14MM view angle and expect it, make the 12MM Olympus feel like I’m missing something when framing shots.Original review: Bought this lens as a companion to my Panasonic 7-14mm f/4.0 lens because it is physically smaller and faster at f/2.0.Now I’m not so sure it was wise, in hindsight. Used the Olympus for a while with good results, but it is not as sharp as the Panasonic 7-14mm. And now that I’m used to a 7mm super-wide view, it’s hard for me to be limited to the 12mm Olympus (not the lens’s fault) as I’ve trained myself to see the world in 7mm. The speed factor I thought would be helpful, a full 2-stops faster, but my Panasonic GX7 is so good at rendering at high ISO’s that speed isn’t as big of a difference as I thought it would be.Smaller size of the Olympus 12mm is an advantage, but most mirrorless 4/3rds cameras like my Panasonic GX7 are not really pocketable anyway, large lens or small. And in terms of real world size and feel, the difference between these two already compact lenses is not something I think about when I’m going out the door. Inevitably I always end up taking the Panasonic lens because it is sharper and wider.
