    Had this lens for a couple of years now and frankly its not as sharp as it ought to be. There are problems with focusing. Things is you don’t realise how substandard it is until you compare it properly with other lenses. out of warranty otherwise I would have it checked by Nikon. (now I am using professional photediting software and ironed out the glitches its not a bad lens at all. Bearing in mind the number of lenses it contains it works well as a general allround lens. Not a pin sharp but acceptably sharp. Keep the shutter speed fat to freeze the picture
