  1. Stephanie Jones

Excellent lens for the price. Had an older Nikon lens which had motor noise issues. This lens is completely silent which is great for video.

  2. Sarah Holmes

An all round. Good lens good results so far need a tripod for full stability on high zoom well worth the money

I have been using the Tamron version which I found to be excellent. This is just that little bit better!Nikon products are excellent and this is no different. Well made, sturdy feel and – excellent pictures. A series of lenses in one.

  4. yvette Elsmore

This has become my lens of choice. It gives a closer shot than a 18-140 mm, so there is more detail. Important since I do a lot of flower pictures. I keep trying the other lens, but come back to this one.

  5. Ana Candia

Brilliant high quality lens that takes stunning quality photos. Upgraded to enable me to get panoramic views at 18mm and fabulous close ups with a 300mm zoom, so only need one lens for my Nikon now. Highly recommended.

As someone quite new to DSLR, I seem to be able to take decent photos with this lens. Useful and saves taking 2 or more separate lenses when out. I find the focus ring difficult to use as it is nearer the camera body than my other lens and not comfortable to use. Maybe I will get used to it after further use

Arrived quickly and well packaged in original Nikon boxBought for my fiancee to replace her Nikon 18 200 which broke. She is very pleased with the lens and loves the extra reach . She is starting to get the feel for it and the 1st lot of her photographs taken on her camera using the lens look pretty good. She is just starting out on her Photography journey and still learning so this lens will help her photographs to get better. It takes time to get the best out of any lens so I’m really looking forward to seeing some great images from her in the future

i bought this Nikon 18-300mm back in 2012 and have loved it – it would indeed be awesome if it could have 2 more mm but have had what i would call spectacular shots from it for example I do a lot of driving trips and when spying subjects of interest at distances away the lens is fast and at the same time achieved sharp quality results.Unfortunately i have had recurring fungus and doubly unfortunate was in China without my warranty forms. The fungus was cleaned but unfortunately returned and after a second attempt to clean it Nikon Xian said it required sending to Beijing where they had the machine to apparently clean inside the barrel properly. They quoted me a 160 pounds and a month to do it, unfortunately since then Nikon UK have assessed and the entire barrel needs replacing at a qhote of 600 pounds. I would love to buy this lens again but would need to address whether the fungus has been an issue with other 18-300 owners or just a particular catalyst event and inappropriate care on my part. This review was for the first 18-300m that came out and I bought in 2012…it had spectacular results esp when many of my shots were taken in Morocco in a moving car at 100km or out and about in public areas or in low light…as said in the specs it has all weather protection but I got recurring fungus in it and after it being cleaned several times by nikon china, nikon UK quoted £600 to replace the barrel. I bought the new edition 18-300mm -6.3 and just can’t get anywhere near the same satisfaction. Totally unhappy with it. Photos are not sharp unless full light/well lit day.

This is hot off the press and basic feedback after a very quick initial play with this lens. Plus points so far seem to be1. It is very compact and therefore lightweight lens2. Focusing is almost instant3. There is a manual focus wheel which can even be used when autofocus is on4. With it being an 18 mm to 300 mm lens it means less need to keep changing lensesI bought this lens basically because I got fed up of constantly changing between the bog standard Nikon 18mm to 55mm lens and a pretty good Tamron 70 mm to 300 mm lens. Ok so I may be comparing apples and oranges here but at 300mm the Tamron actually zooms in more than this lens. This also means you get a much closer shot in macro mode with the Tamron. The difference is quite significant so it’s a little surprising and a little disappointing.I need to check things out a little more but that initial excitement has dissipated by a small amount. I’ll keep the lens as I need the convenience more than anything.UPDATE: I took some shots recently in low light with this lens at 300mm (equivalent to somewhere around 140mm on the Tamron 70-300mm lens) and I noticed how quickly things darkened. So I did a test with both lens and the light difference is amazing, the Tamron winning out easily. This Nikon lens is just shockingly bad. I really wish I’d bought something else but I think too much time has passed now. Basically I would not recommend this lens unless you want only two things, the quietness and speed of the focus. This lens does very little else well. I’m going to save up again for an alternative then sell this as quickly as possible.
