I’ve stuck with Bose as they are renowned for quality sound and build. Our last bluetooth speaker failed after about 18 months, so decided to try the JBL. Definitely not disappointed. The charge just keeps on going and going and the sound is awesome for it’s size. I’m thinking of getting a 2nd one, that’s how good it is.

The Charge 4 is awesome, I’m very pleased with my purchase. If you’re not too picky, compare prices of different colours. I was able to purchase a blue one for $40-50 cheaper than almost any other colour. The battery lasts super long, at least 20 hours of play at a decent volume. The sound is really good, even when cranked up pretty loud. I highly recommend buying a case as well, as you wouldn’t want to damage the speakers on each end while carrying it around.

flip has two drivers (40 mm) while the charge hasjust one.meaning ur getting all the sound out of one speaker while ona flip ur getingit from 2. but flip has terrible bass, and for some reason charge has 2 bass drivers (speakers) and only 1 for everything else (mids-highs). fairly idiotic in my opinion, and so i bought this over priced speaker as a subwoofer pretty much for 2 flips to work in party mode and make one decent system. a flip will cost 100$ only. if thats all u got, ur better off getting a flip, theyre just as loud, but they lack a deep bass, there is bass, just not deep. nut 100$ only, and they do sound great, as powqerful and high as a charge but lacking bass

After hearing my friends JBL Charge 3, and being blown away, I went out to get the Charge 4. I was maybe going to get the Charge 3, but all of the internet said that the Charge 3 and 4 sound almost exactly the same, but the Charge 4 has a few advantages, like battery life. JEEZ… I returned the Charge 4 the day after I bought it because it SOUNDED TERRIBLE. Maybe I got a bad unit or something; who knows? I’ve owned several similar small audio devices: 2 Bluetooth BOSE units and a Logitech dock, and they all sounded leagues better than the Charge 4. My primary issue is that it was very “thin” sounding, and had a very small sound-stage (the sound really did not “fill” the space the unit was in). Finally, I should have known that the JBL Charge 3 and Charge 4 would sound different, because I found out latter that the Charge 3 has 2 small circular speaker drivers, and the Charge 4 has a single oblong driver. Of course these units sound different, I’m not sure why everyone on the internet thinks they sound identical?

Quality of sound is compromised by low quality boomy bass.

Compact and very well made, this is a good sounding speaker that takes our streamed music around the house and into the garden. Long lasting battery life, easy connectability and a durable , waterproof construction means we have no qualms about taking this outside and worrying if it will survive.

Charge 4 = sounds thin + no soundstage

    Excellent additional Bluetooth speaker.
