My first gimbal and its brilliant. Taken some low footage of the dogs (attached) as well as a 5k trail (34mins) run with it. Ive also done a panning timelapse with it as I put a small fence up around a veg patch.Ive had it for a while and think Ive only just scraped the surface with it!It works brilliantly. Only slight disappointment is the connector. Theres talk of you being able to charge your phone off the Osmo 3 but that throws off the functionality. So its very much an either or configuration. You can charge up your phone off of it or use it on the gimbal, dont try both.Oh and the little tripod doesnt fit in the hard case – which is a bit bonkers.

Having been using the gimble for a few weeks it’s hard to fault if i had purchased this without the combo it would be a 5 star review. The DJI Osmo Mobile 3 easily accepts the Galaxy Note 10+ with the bulky Poetic case with no issues. Balancing is easy and the ergonomics are great for walking, running and hiking with.I’ve made use of most of the features so far – from active-track, panorama, sports mode, hyper-lapse, slomo, steady cam etc and each mode has been easy to set up and use. the DJI MIMO app has also been a breeze to use for capturing and editing recordings after the fact for both this and my Osmo Action. The only fault I have for the Osmo Mobile 3 is the ‘Combo’ bundle. this just isn’t worth it in my opinion. The included box is study in construction but leaves ZERO room for anything but the gimble.. meaning its impossible to pack away the INCLUDED tripod or any other accessories like cables or charger, how this got past design i don’t know. The tripod is okay but offers no elevation it is just for stability – there are better solutions out there. The most annoying piece for me is that you cannot put both the gimble and tripod in the included combo bundle box. If the box was just a little bigger this would be far more useful.

I have a lot of DJI’s kit in my camera bags, and this handly foldaway stabiliser was just what I needed for my recent trip to Turkey. I didn’t want to carry a lot of equipment on this trip, but I did want stable footage to add to my video diary, this, along with my GoPro and iPhone plus a ZOOM H1N was my full kit list (including the obvious laptop). It’s really easy to initially balance, even with my iPhone 11, and in no time you’re got buttery smooth footage and control over the camera with the free DJI video app.If you haven’t got one already, this is the phone stabiliser of choice, trust me on this. 2 hour charge time, with 15 hours available, you’d be hard-pressed to beat it. The combi pack includes a great tripod, as well as giving you a little more distance for selfie mode, and with the App, there’s a wide-angle view available too (depending obviously on the type of phone you have).

This is a smooth gimbal that works well with large/heavy phones (mine is a Samsung Note). All the controls are well positioned, but it does not come with any documentation; you need to find and download the manual to learn what multiple presses of the buttons and trigger do.You also need to download and install the DJI Mimo application on your phone. As of 10-Oct-2019 there is a bug that may cause this to freeze on Android phones the first time you use it, when it runs through its ‘What the buttons do’ tutorial. Set your font size to SMALL before you first run the app. After the one-time ‘buttons tutorial’ has finished, you can reset your font size back to your preferred setting. DJI are aware of this and promise it will soon be cured. The Bluetooth connection is made through the DJI Mimo app, not the normal Android pairing method. Some complain of jerky video when doing a slow horizontal pan: That is caused by your phones image stabilisation not this device. Turn off the phones image stabilisation before filming a slow pan shot. Its battery life is very good. The combo version comes with a tripod plus hard and soft cases. There is no room in the hard case for the tripod. After using it extensively for 2-weeks I’m impressed with the results. So despite lacking printed documentation and the minor (but easily to avoid) glitch during the software ‘tutorial’ I am very pleased with it. Find and download the manual whilst you are waiting for it to be delivered.

The Osmo Mobile 3 seems, after one day of testing to be a very god product, it is very well made relatively easy to setup and use and in the Combo package which I bought pretty good value. I was impressed with the core functionality of the device which for me was to take video without all the camera shake usually associated with handheld devices (especially light weight mobile phones). I have an iPhone 11 Pro Max which takes very good photos and videos, they are so good in fact that I now use it for all my photography this after 40 odd years of being a keen amateur photographer. So to improve my video I needed a gimbal device and the Osmo Mobile 3 does it for me – excellent. One slight drawback is that when using the DJI Mimo app, which has several great features, especially for video work, it does not allow 16:9 aspect ratio ON STILL PHOTOS (16:9 is fine on video) On stills it reverts to 4:3 only. This is slightly irritating but then again the Mobile 3 is really intended for video work. On further investigation this is the same with the latest phones from other makers and not just Apple. If you use the phone’s own photo app when shooting using the Mobile 3 16:9 is available for stills, but you lose some of the DJI Mimo features. This is no big deal and barely detracts from its huge benefit when shooting videos, perhaps DJI will fix it in a future release of the App. Lets face it who shoots stills in 4:3 these days !
