Philip Quinn –
After watching some reviews on YouTube that said you lose some sharpness in your photo, I was a bit nervous about this product. However I can safely say for me it is perfect. Beautiful sharp photos with my Canon 70-200m L lens.

I bought this 1.4 extender to add a bit of extra reach on my DSLR and 100 – 400 Canon lens. It is permanently attached now! As others have mentioned it does knock the aperture down 2 stops. On a clear sunny day at full zoom and ISO auto set between 100 – 800 I get shutter speeds in the 500 – 640 area with the appropriate aperture in the f8 and smaller region. The exif data it is showing a focal length with my 100 – 400 on full zoom in the 525mm region. On a crop frame camera you may get better results. Shop around on ClickElectronics – the price varies a great deal but make sure of which model you are buying as there are several versions out there

WARNING Before you buy, check the list of EF lenses on the Canon website to make sure it will fit and work with your lens. It is NOT be compatible with ALL EF lenses. Stupidly, I bought this extender for the my EF 70-300 4-5.6 L USM telephoto lens without checking. However, although my lens is not on the list, it dose work, but with limitations. The f-stop information is incorrect (due to my camera – EOS 6D Mk II – firmware not recognising the combination of lens & extender – although the EOS 1D X dose recognise it!), plus, due to the rubber lens mount in the extender preventing the retraction of the internal element workings of the EF lens, you will only be able to use the lens at a focal length 300 mm & largest f stop of 8 giving you a focal length of 420 mm.Having said all that, the build and picture quality is as you would expect from Canon. I can not mark the lens down for my own stupidity!

I have this extender fitted to a Canon 100-400mm L IS II more-or-less as a permanent attachment, because I like what it does to this lens. It still auto-focuses superbly well, and gives me the focal lengths I like.I’ve had a 2x extender for years, and only used it occasionally because it’s too extreme, but this 1.4x fits the bill.

Will be excellent with my Canon 100-400mm lens
S Henderson –
Works great! Wish it had a better carrying case.
K. Harris –
Very Handy and Useful. Clarity is as good as Prime Lenses, but it depends on the Light condition.
Rebecca E. Schmuck –
You can double the focal length of your kens, but beware: it will “eat” the aperture (2.8 became 5.6).

Se siete amanti della fotografia naturalista o sportiva questo è quello che vi serve. Unito a i teleobiettivi della serie L della canon regala un raddoppio di focale senza quasi perdita di dettaglio, già a tutta apertura di diaframma. Costruzione solida in magnesio, tropicalizzato. Il meglio del meglio. Preso usato su ClickElectronics, è arrivato in perfetto condizioni, pari la nuovo ma con grande risparmio. Spedizione sempre velocissima con ClickElectronics.Paolo

This arrived quite early – I was not expecting it for another week! I have already used one of these for years, and am quite pleased with the result. One note, though, is that most “black” lenses will NOT fit on it – INCLUDING PROFESSIONAL GRADE LENSES – the “snorkel” of the lens which protrudes up out of the casing (you can see it in the picture) prevents it from mounting any but “white lenses”. I will try inserting a “close up ring” which will effectively separate the two, just to see what happens – but for the time being, this “extender” is strictly for my 100-400 mm. I confess I could like to have had such an extender for my general purpose 17-85, or the 24-105. Maybe someone from Canon will read this review! You lose an f:stop or two, but the optics are very good.
