Great lens that is Affordable and Portable – with a Weakness.

I am a professional photographer who doesn’t like to carry around professional equipment on days out – too big, too bulky and too expensive. So this pancake lens is the exact opposite and perfect for me!I pair this lens with a Canon 200d. When you combine these two, it doesn’t look as a retro or stylish as Fuji or Olympus compacts – but it weighs less and is actually physically smaller than the cameras which are often used for street photography by virtue of their compactness.I highly recommend putting this lens with a small DSLR such as 100d or 200d, and you will not even notice it on days out. During winter, I can even fit it in the larger pockets of my winter jacket, skipping the need for any sort of bag or carrying device. The lens itself is fine – for personal use on a 24MP camera, the image quality is fine and I am happy with the quality of my holiday and family photos. The AF is fast and accurate enough unless you are intent on making giant wall art from your photos.I also have the 40mm version of this lens, which is the same size. The 24mm, 40mm and the camera is my full travel kit.NB on the EF-S mount cameras the 24mm is going to have a roughly 38mm equivalent focal length. This is what makes it perfect for taking on days out, as a with a full frame body I would use something around 35mm for the versatility on the street.

Fantastic lens for a fantastic price. Ive been able to take some real great shots with this lens. I have a 700d body (nothing to write home about) but this lens coupled with shooting RAW has meant that my pictures have been worthy of advertising.Simply a must buy for anyone who needs to take decent-professional images.

Before buying this lens and trying it by myself, I really struggled to believe to all the positive reviews I was reading about it. In particular everyone seemed to be happy about how sharp this lens is.This lens is simply amazing and pictures are really sharp, compared to the Canon 18-55mm kit lens (you can judge yourself looking at the pictures I attached). It is also very small and light to carry, and thanks to its f/2.8 maximum aperture it can deliver good results in low light conditions. If I had to travel and I could only carry one lens, I would definitely bring this one with me.

Ive been using this lens as my everyday lens for a month now, and love the deep bokeh possible at f/2.8. I bought this instead of the nifty-fifty EF lens as it is similar considering the crop factor, in both focal distance and especially aperture. The 50mm f/1.8 becomes an f/2.9 on an EF-S body. The 35mm macro would be a closer match but considerably more expensive. Of course with the 35mm you get image stabilization and the ability to do extreme closeups.Picture quality is likely somewhat better than the kit lens, but when I use a RAW editor, I dont notice a great difference; the benefits are in better low light functionality, less chromatic aberration, and deeper bokeh.I recommend this lens to anyone looking to get a nice decently wide prime lens on a budget.

ItS focus on a subject is amazing, and the bokeh background turns out very good.Con: you cant zoom in or out.Pro: handy, light weight, good picture quality

My favorite lens ever since I started using it. It’s an EF-S lens meant only for cropped sensor camera bodies. 24mm x 1.6 = 38mm field of view. Which is a very good focal length for general, street, landscape & even for portraits with wider aperture f/2.8, doesn’t create much distortion. The image quality is sharper than the usual kit lens. It’s small & lighter but well built which makes it easier to carry anywhere along with you. The STM auto focus is very smooth and fast but the manual focusing is just not as good. At under 10k this lens is worth investing in.
