I managed to get this on a ‘double’ deal with a discount from ClickElectronics plus cash back from Canon, hence my view that this was excellent value for me. I am blown away by the picture quality when paired with my new Canon R and the positive reviews I read on-line proved correct. The one part of this lens that I thought needed improvement is the foot that is provided, so I purchased a Kirk LP-61 Quick Release Lens Plate as a replacement and I’m delighted with the final solution.

This is a superb lens. I’ve just got back from a 2 week vacation in California and have been using it for wildlife and scenery shots and the results are excellent even in difficult conditions such as shooting into the light. About the only downside is that it’s rather large and heavy – but that’s unavoidable given the zoom range and quality. I’m still looking for the perfect way to carry it when it’s attached to the camera and I need both hands free to climb over things – I’m planning try some sort of shoulder strap attached to the tripod bush on the lens. Expensive but highly recommended.

As expected, this Canon lens is well-built and easy to use – if a bit on the heavy side. But the performance is superb. Image stabilisation is very impressive and the images pin sharp. Worth the investment.

Only had it a short time but the results are amazing…so clear. I have taken shots at 400mm, hand held down to 1/80s and the shot is perfect. TheIS system seems better than my EF24-105mm L! And the optics are superb.

I love this lens very much and is ideal to get up close and personal with your subjects. It can be quite heavy, but the handle on the side of the lens is ideal for carrying. Highly recommend this lens.

Wonderful lens at a reasonable price. As a relative novice I had been using a standard Canon lens (70-300mm) which I was very happy with but wanted greater zoom to capture wildlife photographs.The difference between this professional L-series lens and my original standard Canon lens is noticeable and I’m extremely happy with the enhanced image quality as well as the increased range.

Other than being a little heavy after carrying it for six hours, the lens is magical. While gear doesn’t make a person a better photographer, your pictures will be better with this piece of glass.
