I already own a 24-105mm, and a 17-40mm so I held off buying this lens, thinking it was pretty much redundant. I’m glad I finally bought it though. It takes nice sharp pictures, and it’s so small I can easily stick it in my pocket to use as a scenic/landscape lens when I’m out chasing wildlife with a larger telephoto on the camera. If I take pictures inside the house it’s my go to lens now. Even on a full frame camera I’m finding it to be a more useful focal length than a 50mm.

First I’d like to start by saying I love this lens. Focal length on my 5D mkii is far more adaptable than the 50mm. Better build quality than the 50 too with images just as sharp AND it is super light! Walking around with this on my 5D mkii is an absolute pleasure. My lens however stops taking photos whenever some pressure has been applied to the lens. This could be anywhere from a slight knock to replacing the lens cap. Its a VERY common fault I have come to learn and can be sent in to Canon to fix free of charge. Only problem is I am now in Asia and canon Asia aren’t replying to any of my emails and seemingly dont want to know. The error is temporarily fixable by ejecting the camera battery and reinserting or by detaching then reattaching the lens, only thing here however is I have missed several shots due to this fault and by the time I have ejected/reinserted the battery etc, the moment has passed and I’ve forever lost the shot.Apparently you can apply the firmware yourself if you have a 5D mkiii I read this went horribly wrong for someone though on a forum. To be on the safe side I’d request this is done before placing the order.I’m seriously losing faith with Canon right now. This is the third brand new product I have bought recently to suffer a problem that should have really been fixed at the quality control stage. Someone’s getting sloppy, and it ain’t me!

Lovely little lens!! I’ve had mine a week now and been putting it through its paces (portraits of my kids, a bit of macro, and some astrophotography). It’s very versatile. A slightly awkward focal length on a cropped sensor for taking portraits indoors as it does force you to back up a bit more than you would normally, but all in all, very happy!

I bought this prime lens for my new Canon EOS 750D and I am delighted with it. I wanted it mainly for portraits and to photograph products and items mostly for eBay.I can only agree with the majority of other reviewers. It is a very sharp lens indeed. and I have had – or at least the lens has had, some amazing results during the week I have owned it.When I first started in photography with my Pentax Spotmatic many years ago, it came with a 50 mm lens, as I think all cameras did back then. And now I am realising what a brilliant focal length lens it really is in this day and age.

For the money, this lens produces stunning images! Very easy to recommend!

    So tiny!

Used this lens with Canon M6 using Canon Adapter.1) Fast focussing and very sharp images with bright colours2) Not much flaring seen with bright lights.3) Versatile for portraits and low light photos, along with videos4) Compact Pancake, good build quality.5) IMO better than 50mm, and consumes far less battery than the 50 mm.

    Small and amazing.
