The best portable speaker Ive ever come across and works well with Alexa.
Timea Sharrad –
Great sound from a very expensive niche product with questionable Alexa integration

The set up:I was so disappointed! This is a thing of beauty and my Bang & Olufsen earbuds have served me well, so I had high hopes. But I wasted hours trying to get it to play any music. I don’t think it’s me. It connected to all the phones I tried it on, it even downloaded and installed the updated software patch (although that took 40 minutes rather than the 10 minutes that it keep telling me were left). But the app keeps failing to connect to the device. So I sent a request for assistance through the B&O app and to be fair they came back to me with some advice about a day later. Effectively this was a long version of turn it off and on again, i.e. a re-set of the device (you hold the on/off switch and bluetooth switch on together for 5+ seconds) and a delete and reinstall the app. This seems to have done the trick on one phone (but not the other) – but the app is still not really working – but I can now hear music via a qualcomm aptXTM link. That is a step in the right direction – but it means alexa is still not integrated or useable. The sound: It sounds good! It is plenty loud enough (but that claim of peak power of 2×140 watts seems optimistic – they certainly can’t mean RMS?) and the bottom end is impressive for a small speaker. But then you would expect that for this price point. In truth I think my bose home 300 sounds better and that has the wifi capability as well as bluetooth.Overall: This is a good sounding speaker which being B&O obviously looks lovely. The sound is impressive considering how small it is. But if my experience in getting it set up is anything to go by, this seems like it is not really ready for market yet. Hopefully a software and app upgrade can fix that, but I certainly won’t be getting another one to create a stereo pair.

Its B&O what did you expect? It is every bit as good as it should be. I had it’s predecessor and that was great but battery life was irritating – this fixes that. It’s lighter but no loss of oomph. Superb portable speaker.

This is easily the best sound quality of any portable speaker I have come across. I own 2 Ultimate Ears Boom 2 speakers and have used a mega boom. I also used a Marley XL speaker for some months but passed it on as I preferred the UE Boom 2s. .The sound quality is very good, noticeably so, even without any direct side by side comparison, and if comparing directly the result is even more clearly in favour of the B&O A1. I listen to a wide range of material from opera, orchestral, chamber music and pop to spoken word, and in every genre the quality is exceptional, especially if the speaker is placed on a wooden surface which gives the bass a tiny but pleasurable lift without sounding like the sort of hyper-bass speaker that neglects everything else.As for Alexa! Reviews here that mention serial connection issues, dont chime at all with my experience. Ive not used Alexa before, but I have found no problems connecting and getting accurate responses. Using for calls seems straightforward too though I admit my lack of experience with the system may affect my expectations. The speaker is, of course, expensive and I admit that I wouldnt have considered purchasing such a pricey unit before. But I really like it and count myself incredibly fortunate to have been offered this on vine. Now that I have direct experience of it Im seriously considering buying a second the enable stereo use. But frankly, this single speaker gives a better sound picture than the good, paired Boom 2 speakers.Very recommendable, extremely well made and beautiful!
