Outstanding sound & design – just a little too much cable noise!

Please find first 24 hour review below.•What was I looking for?Bluetooth earphones thatA, were not “true” wireless buds but had cable between earphonesB, battery housed in earphones instead of on the cable to avoid unbalanced pulling of earsC, bang for buck under £120 whilst keeping sound quality the same or better than my previous two drivers, Shure SE215 (in-ear) and Sennheiser Momentum (on-ear closed back) (both wired, both high end of the midrange market)As such please read this review whilst keeping in mind the comparison will be to the two earphones above plus lower range ones I had used previously. I also used Spotify with music downloaded at the highest quality to listen to music ranging from classical to jazz, rock to pop and EDM. Good quality .mp3 has almost no audible difference to .flac, especially not with Bluetooth earphones.Sound: Warm-neutral. I appreciate that the bass is not overwhelming similar to other Bluetooth headsets that try to compensate for lack of nuance in sound by making the bass drown out everything. Detailed sound, nice defined mid to low range and bright highs, but not too sharp. My understanding is that this is what B&O really does well and despite the fact that this is not their most expensive device it’s clear they did not skip on the sound quality. Even compared to wired earphones in this price range the performance is brilliant.I am not interested in pretty packaging and the like so let me skip that, yes, it’s an experience to open it. Inside are loads of options for ear tips (including Comply earfoams, yay) and extra fins which I imagine are useful for sports. Also proprietary charger, but that’s just how it is these days, very futuristic though.Hardware: neck cable is comfortable, cannot notice it after a while, enforced with braided textile. Some reviews claim earphones are heavy or bulky, I don’t find it at all, they’re comfortable and sit securely in my ears after carefully choosing the right ear tips of course. This would be a 5 star review if it wasn’t for the fact that a company that prides itself on design and quality boxes and ships products that have such visible faults on them as mine does. It seems as if the cover of the controls was pushed in by some sharp object and since the cover and the buttons are very stiff (no problem with that kind you), it is now permanently dented. I doubt it will affect the life of the device, but as a first experience with a B&O product it’s disappointing.Take away: I have gone with these headphones despite other reviewers mentioning poor build quality in hopes that some people just get the faulty ones and it usually doesn’t mean all of them have issues. That might not be the case with these earphones. Regardless the sound is everything a Bluetooth device can deliver and if it lasts the two years all devices seem to be built for these days then it’s money well spent, mind you I will think twice before purchasing a B&O again, if ever.

Loses 2 stars for video sync issues.I’m a long time bose person, and currently use the QC35 wireless headphones. I’ve been looking for some earbuds for the times where a big set of headphones wasn’t ideal. The bose buds were too pricey for my use case, so opted for these. All in all these are fantastic sounding earphones, which is basically all I was looking for, but the lack of features Id expect from this brand and price range, plus the video sync issue, makes them far from perfectWhat I like:- the materials, design & build feel great- the sound is so clear, very well balanced. As a bose person I forget how much bose treat their soundstage, so I was missing a little more bottom end, which was overcome via the app – at a cost (see next section)- the magnets to turn off is really handyWhat I didn’t like- video delay. It’s a small delay, but noticeable and pretty annoying. If you tweak the eq in the app, the sync gets worse too (presumably due to additional processing needed). My bose bluetooths have 0 delay. The sync for me means that I can’t watch video using them as it’s just too annoying- the fit – the stock buds did fit ok, but I didn’t get the seal I was wanting. I took advice from other comments and got the comply tx-200 buds. Much better! Albeit this adds to the cost- the charger – I now have to carry around yet another cable. Would have been nice if it had a case/charger combo, like with theirs E8 buds- I can’t simultaneously connect to more than one device. Perhaps a feature from bose that I now take for granted. But I can’t have music on one device and receive a call from the other. Reconnecting becomes a pain- the black safety label!! I get that it’s probabbly a regulation, but why put a massive black label right next to the remote, flapping about. Completely ruins the look. Doesn’t look easy to remove either

The ear fins don’t fit in the charger which means that, everytime you charge them, you MUST remove the ear tips, then remove the ear fins, then charge your earphones. And after charging, you MUST put the ear fins back again, and put the ear tips back again before you can use your earphones. How unpractical. And considering how thin the ear fins are, I doubt they are very durable if you have to remove them and put them back everyday… This is the worst and most unpractical design ever. And it retails at RRP £229? Really??

Pros,I bought these headphones in July 2018 for commuting and for sports. It did take a while to get used to them with the ideal comfy buds. The sound quality is excellent.Cons1. You do hear the lead rubbing against the back of my neck when running but after a while you don’t notice it.2. They can fall out during a run or require a slight adjustment.3. Very poor build quality. As you can see from the pictures – the lead has started to unravel after 6 months of use. I have sent these back to B&O for an inspection but they have deemed this to be user induced. They haven’t offered any sort of repair service. In summary, fantastic sound quality but let down by poor build quality.
