20 reviews for Canon Canon EF-M 32mm f/1.4 STM

  1. Megan Crawford

This is THE lens for my m3 camera Expensive but in a different league I would recommend it

  2. Natalie Leeds

A fantastic, compact lens with beautifully rendered bokeh. The build quality is exceptional, and autofocus is fast and accurate.Bitingly sharp and great for low-light situations; with its fast f1.4 maximum aperture I can almost shoot in the dark. This lens is the perfect 50mm equivalent partner to my Canon M50.While by no means a macro lens, as a bonus it actually focuses pretty close too.Come on Canon: more fast aperture, affordable primes like this for the M system, please.

Yes this is the sharpest and brightest lens available in an EF-M mount. Paired up with an EOS M6 it produces stunning results. So why not 5*.It’s lost a star because one of the images in the listing shows it coming with a lens hood, which it doesn’t. Anyway not including a lens hood with a £500 is cheap.

I rarely write reviews on products, but i have decided to leave my review for this lens cause i was so pleased with the results. The first thing i have to say is that this lens is very very sharp. I have the 22mm which lacks sharpness therefore decided to try this one out, and i have to say, even at f1.4 the image is crisp sharp throughout, even in the corners. And with the eye detection of my M50, you can get some amazing portraits with beautiful bokeh. The only thing that could be improved is if it had image stabilisation.

I was a bit apprehensive about paying this much for a lens that only works on a crop camera, especially as I already have the much cheaper 22mm f/2. Having read so many good things about this I took a chance. What can I say, its lives up to all the hype. The quality is second to none in the 50mm (equivalent) range. Sharp at the edges even wide open. I honestly cant fault this lens as a do it all, other than no stabilization and STM is fast, but not quite as snappy as USM or USM Nano. Not sure its worth the money to everyone, but it’s certainly a lens that you wont be disappointed with. Limiting factor is now the sensor in the M series cameras.

This is a phenomenal lens. All the positive reviews are correct; it’s a beast. Its not particularly cheap but optically, this blows all other EF-M lenses out of the water. So, should you buy it? It depends on what you want from your camera. The 50mm equivalent field of view is close to what the human eye sees but can be a little restrictive for architecture shots. The low 1.4 aperture is great for low light but if you don’t often shoot in low light you may be fine with the 22mm f/2.0 pancake lens. This however is a great walkaround/street photography lens. It renders colours beautifully, especially at the golden hour and the low light performance is superb. I don’t think my M6 is particularly strong with low light, with noticeable noise creeping in at ISO 800 but with the fast aperture of this lens, you can keep the ISO lower and the shutter speed fast enough for sharp shots.I have attached a few of the pictures I’ve taken so far. They’ve been edited minimally in Lightroom but truth be told, they didn’t need much work. An unbelievable lens and one I doubt I’ll be removing from my camera too much.
