A great upgrade for those who have kit telephoto lenses. Build quality is solid, Very lightweight comapred to other lenses of the same size. Picture quality is superb. Very sharp and good contrast. For the most part autofocus is great, Misses the target every now and then. Stabilization is pretty good as well. Unfortunate that my first experience with this lens was marred for the fact that I bought it new and it came with no box and just bubble wrapped. Had to return it and buy it from another source and it came new in a box.

Absolute beauty for the price, of course if you have money you should go for f2.8 and preferably L lens but at half the price of them, this thing produces absolutely beautiful pictures. If you take distance and texture of background into account properly, it can produce super smooth bokeh. The zoom range is very useful. Only downside is there is no tripod collar, i would pay a premium to have that on such a long lens. It feels wierd and does not emulate confidence on a smaller body.

On one shot this looks to be a rather odd choice of focal length, 70-210mm but then again there is a cheaper Canon offering of 70-200mm at F4 but without IS and weather sealing. Those were the two things i priced a lot and hence took the plunge with the Tamron 70-210 f4 with VC (IS in Canon terms) and weather sealing.I was on a budget and wanted something that is light, versatile and reliable. Per all the research i did and reviews i went through, this fit nothing like any other. I have had this for over a couple of months and i think this was a good investment. Am happy with the sharpness and the fact that i get solid VC along with weather sealing. Tamron really listens to the market i guess coz at F4, this is the lens to have. The image quality is amazingly sharp and the portability of this lens is too good owing to its light weight. Bang for the buck in deed!

I find it better than the old canon 70-200 f4, but no better than the new one, Af is slow but good accuracy, VC works fine but you need the tap-in console for change the AF or VC settings, tripod collar its too expensive.
