Ive had the E8 for almost three months now using them as my daily commute in ears and – after a period of getting used to my first pair of wireless in ears – am glad that Ive taken the leap. I do however see some improvements, some of which could be made in future software updates.Connection QualityBeing my first wireless pair and being even fully wireless I was surprised by how much a difference it makes to not have a cable dangling down my ears. I sill use my IE80 at home but solely use the E8 while on the go. Every now and then the connection has a little hiccup but I blame that on the shortcomings of the Bluetooth standard rather than B&Os implementation there off. Since the update to the latest software which fixes an annoying bug which resulted in the left earpiece being quieter than the right after a connection drop, the connection is now as stable as Id expect any good Bluetooth connection to be. Pairing with my iPhone SE and 8 is pretty much flawless.Fit & Touch ControlsOf course one doesnt want their fancy in ears to drop into a sewer or the likes and Ive never had any issues with them coming lose while on the move and would expect that to hold true for workouts too. An ear too size between medium and small would have been great for my left ear but overall fit is very good and comfortable. The touch control work pretty well and certainly seem like a better idea than haptic buttons pushing the earpieces into my ear with every push. They are pretty intuitive and do add a lot to the UX side of things. Sometimes it doesnt register the second tap to skip a song and stops the music instead but that might just be me not hitting it properly while walking.SoundIf youre anything like me youve spent your hard earned money on one of the most expensive in ears out there because you wanted wireless in ears AND good sound quality. Overall, I think the E8 achieve that but it shouldnt come as a surprise that they are not as good sounding as a £200+ wired pair. They have a lot of detail to offer, mids are decent and the bass is quite well defined. However, both my IE80 from Sennheiser and P7 over ear from Bowers & Wilkins (both with bass that hits harder and smoother treble) sound noticeably better, even after getting used to the E8s sound signature. The E8 can also have quite harsch treble at times. Thanks to the AAC codec on iOS I cannot complain about any (audible) degradation due to compression of the Bluetooth signal. Id say you get a £150 pair of in ears and pay £100 to take off the wires and put a B&O logo on the outside. All this is with the equaliser switched off, mainly due to the reason that I simply dont like the way its been implemented. It looks intuitive at first but the Grid implementation means you always have to change the sound on two dimensions at once meaning that I CAN reduce the treble a little but not without boosting the bass too much or loosing all bite to the mids. I wish there was a classic EQ with separate frequencies – something that could be added to the app with an update. The app by the way is easy enough to use for setup but you dont really have to open it again after that.Battery LifeProbably my biggest concern when going wireless was running out of battery when trying to forget about a busy train around me. Im actually pretty happy with battery life, only once have I found myself with the left earpiece out of hoovers while the right side still played. They do however seem to discharge over the course of 2 weeks when in the carrying case when they should actually be completely switched off. Not an issue usually though.

Dont usually leave reviews, but having spent weeks reading other peoples reviews before buying these headphones, I feel I have to contribute back.I have had these about a month now and am really pleased with them. Expensive but well worth it in my view. Really comfortable. Great charging case that is a practical size and looks and feels lovely. I have paired these with an iPhone 8 and an iPad Pro and have had none of the connectivity drop out some people have mentioned. The sound quality is incredible and the touch controls are pretty intuitive, if a tad sensitive.Sound leakage is almost zero. I have sat listening to music at high volume and my partner has not been able to hear a thing. Makes me feel far less self conscious watching movies on the train or listening to uncool tunes sat next to a total stranger.Considering how tiny and low key these ear buds are, its amazing that so much sound can emerge from them!

The sounds quality is great considering the size, the controls are easy enough to use once you get used to them – bit of a delay in pausing a track so easy to press twice which can be frustrating but you get used to it.Set up however is horrendous – this would be a 5* product if the set up was improved – if you have the new android software you need to update the product firmware for it to work… I then had to uninstall and re-install the app. hope this helps others with same issue. When updating the firmware you cannot put the headphones back into the charging case as this turns them off and loses the connection.Once you’re through the pain of set up though the connection is fine haven’t had a drop out – the noise cancelation options are quite good as well.I would recommend this product but be prepared for a stressful hour on set up.

Fantastic B&O build quality, excellent sound, classy look and finish, easily links to phone and B&O app. Highly recommend if youre in the £250 market. Went for a 10K run in them this morning and they worked fine, no dropping and didnt fall out and I forgot they were in my ears.

Please read all of this review. Not just the good bits. TLDR – not rubbish , but not amazing either. I’d expect more form a premium brand. If you want top of the line sound, these almost get there. It’s all there, frequency response and textures, etc. I have some professional cans and it comes close on some of the levels. It’s more than enough for a portable set of buds with Bluetooth compression. Are these better than cheepish clone buds? Oh yes.Do you get you money’s worth? Well, depends. If you’re getting them on offer at a discount. Yeah , they sound premium. If you’re paying premium – I’d shop around. I wouldn’t regret it though even at premium – though always get the newest versions of these you can afford. So why did I return it?Firstly, they died. Conked out. Dead. Right side ear bud won’t play a jot. Charges, syncs, doesn’t play. So maybe that’s a Q&A issue. I won’t write off the brand, but seriously, after two months of moderate to light use, it conked out. Not B&O quality folks. Not good enough. Why moderate to light use? That leads me to the ergonomics. It’s fiddly, counter intuitive in some of its use and just down right annoying to keep in your ears. Even the memory foam buds have issues. The buds feel like they want to head for the floor, they aren’t balanced correctly. I don’t use them for commuting or outdoors but TBH I’d be terrified of taking these out of the house and would spend hours worrying about when they pop out.The controls are, to be frank, idiotic. It’s like some arcane mystical set of gesture you have to learn in order to it to work. Most of which I had to watch the youtube video like a Kpop fan looking for dance moves to master. Being an unfashionable older gent, you can imagine how well that worked.Oh and this set seemed to have some synchro issues. Despite no other BT device having any problems, this thing kept dropping connection and messing about. It might be , again, a Q&A problem for this one set, but when you tripple digit costing premium device has less connectivity than the 20 quid throwaway gym buds – NOT good. And to be honest, you can get more comfortable , MUCH longer battery mileage with over the ear Headphones for the equivalent price, without looking a Cyberman infiltration unit. You can also get similar wireless buds that maybe cheaper, aren’t a pain ergonomically, and sound about the same.If you MUST have stylish buds, that sound great and you don’t mind the ergonomic compromises. These will do.if you want Quality of Sound you’re going to want over the ears cans anyway, preferably with a wired connection, so you don’t have to listen to stuff through BT compression.
