I really like this lens, and mounted on my D5300, its the ideal go-anywhere combination. Used mainly for landscapes so far, seems sharp to me, and good colour rendition.Yes, separate 18-55mm and 55 to 200/300mm may be cheaper and lighter, but for sheer convenience, this is a better option in my opinion. Well recommended.

I bought this lens to be able to take photos in most situations and the lens delivered that.I went for a short city walk (London, Hyde park area) and I used this lens for taking macro style pictures (although, it is not a macro lens!), portraits, architecture, small animals (zoom was very handy). This is my main lens, if I don’t know what can I expect or simply just go out (not for shooting) this is the lens that I bring.
