    Canon RF 24-105mm f/4L is USM Lens. This is a great default lens. This is the lens you keep on your camera because with it you are ready for most anything. Much like it’s L-Series 24-105mm f/4 predecessor, but with improvements; It has a programmable band around the lens that can be set to control any function. By default it is set to control the iris apertures- exactly what I want because on older cameras/lenses, the aperture dial was around the lens barrel. Very nice to have it there again! Also, the zoom is nice and tight (at least when new), so if you point the lens down and do a long exposure, the result will be a focused shot, no ‘zoom lens creep.’ I can not say this about the older EF-mount L-series version, which creeps all the way out if I point it at a 45° angle. I also think this lens focuses better in the corners at wide open aperture, as compared to the earlier Canon lens. Now, the older EF-mount L-series 24-105mm f/4 was proclaimed a great lens by most reviewers, and it was more expensive than this lens. I own both and can say without question that this lens is a step up. Maybe a couple of steps up. This lens functions like a pro lens; but don’t use it in the rain, this is a telescoping (tromboning) lens. Any lens that physically gets longer when you zoom it, sucks in lots of moist air and will eventually be ruined by the internal humidity. The advantage of the tromboning design, however is that is gets really short and fits well in your camera bag. I would recommend this lens, it feels just right and functions very well on my new EOS-R.

    Im Vergleich zum Vorgänger bessere Randschärfe und Kontrast. Autofokus ist auch schneller. Aber ab 90 mm hatte ich zu oft ein Fokusproblem. Der Fokus sprang vor und zurück und fand keine Schärfe. Mit dem Vorgänger (am RF-Adapter gleiche Motive) habe ich keine Probleme mit dem Fokus. Die Fokusprobleme traten bei den verschiedensten Motiven auf.

    Für meine EOS RP habe ich jetzt meine beiden Festbrennweiten 50/1.4 und 85/1.8 durch das neue RF 24-105/4 L ersetzt. Was soll ich sagen? Das neue Objektiv ist überall, auch bei Blende 4, schärfer und der Autofokus viel schneller und präziser. Die fehlenden Blendenstufen kann ich verschmerzen, zumal das neue Objektiv einen Stabilisator hat, der perfekt funktioniert. Ich brauche kein neues Objektiv mehr! – Oder vielleicht doch…?

    Just bought for my Canon EOS R, was after more image stabilisation for quick action shots. Honestly I haven’t noticed a massive gain over the EF 24-70mm with no IS, actually the glass of the 24-70 is exceptionally sharp. However, even only 1 or 2 stops gain is helpful for fast photography and the extra lenght up to 105mmm also great for portraits. Reduced flange distance works also very well with DPR for additional sharpness. In all very happy, I’m keeping this lens on the camera most of time now.

    Vollformat Allrounder Objektiv für die neue EOS R und RP Serie. Verarbeitung hochwertig ohne jeden Tadel. Ich kann keine Messwerte oder ähnliches geben und auch nicht zeilenlang über Schärfe und Linsen etc. philosophieren. Aber ich bin mit der Schärfe nicht vollumfänglich überzeugt. Mein 35 mm RF Festbrennweite ist deutlich schärfer und macht für mich die besseren Bilder. Der Vorteil beim Allrounder liegt schlicht darin sich weniger bewegen zu müssen.
