Hm. As other reviewers have said these arrived with a US plug, and they end up being rather ugly/bulky. They also do not work as well as I would expect – My mate has Google mesh installed and has the Assistants throughout his home, and they work really very well, his setup is the main reason I bought these but these don’t work as well.Call me cynical, but I wonder if ClickElectronics is providing sub-par models with a US plug to annoy UK customers into buying Alexa / ClickElectronics backed units, instead of their main competitors…

Has great potential but still a work in progress as the software updates testify. Intriguingly one cannot change IP address range but has to accept the default 192.168.86.nnn. Pity but not a show stopper. In my case, two of these are clearly better than two Extremes coupled to two Express routers from you know who:).So whilst it still lacks some router features, notably there seems no easy way to bridge to this, it scores full marks for WiFi signal coverage at least in my ancient stone big house.Worth getting in anticipation of software updates to come to complete the product. The UK versions come with a non-adaptable UK 3 pin plug – so not like Asus that delivers 3 different adapters. Poor show for a global company unless they’re consciously trying to copy Philips’ bad habits:(

I was using a plug in range extender for years without problem for the downstairs of my house until a storm fried it. I couldn’t seem to find a bad word about the Google wifi so thought I would replace the old one with this.Admittedly I completely missed that one of the access points has to be connected with an ethernet cable to the router. But then Google didn’t make this clear in their info either:from google website: Think about where the router is located in your home. Probably in a corner, close to where the internet service enters your home. The problem is, that far flung corner is the worst location to place a router if you want fast Wi-Fi throughout the house.- Yet this is exactly where you have to place the first access point! So you have to buy at least 2, at 250 quid that’s quite a lot. Anyway, I tested it. Upstairs it gave the same performance as my router. Downstairs I couldn’t get any signal whereas I can get a tiny amount from the router. As a second device connects to the first by wifi, if I did have a second device it wouldn’t have been able to connect.I also tried connecting it via an Ethernet port that I have downstairs. My old range extender gave a signal that reached all 4 rooms. The google wifi lost connection once you made 8 steps away from it with just a door and thin wall between meaning it only covered one and half rooms. It was very easy to setup. At least I tried all this on a rainy day ! :)I sent it back

My house covers about 200 square metres over two floors. I have struggled for years to get good wifi coverage. I’ve got by, by using a second more powerful router/access point and mains powerline adaptors for TV and my outside office. The Google wifi installation has revolutionised this.Taking a guess at whether I would need two or three Google Points I bought a double pack and a single pack. Installation was astonishingly easy. Basically, the instructions read: 1. Plug it in 2. Scan the QR code. That really is all you have to do. There is an app which helps you position the Points for best Mesh coverage. To my amazement, just one Point provided coverage across the whole house. However, one point on its own is not a Mesh network and there were some corners with one bar of signal strength so I installed the second Google Point. This has provided full signal strength everywhere including bedrooms, garage, outside office and even the garden. I’ve also connected the TV, AppleTV, PC and printer into the wireless mesh network, chucking out all the PowerPoint connectors, cables and wifi booster.I agonised over whether to install or return the third Google Point. It really wasn’t required but, just for the fun of it, I installed it in a bedroom anyway. I’ve been running this network for about two months. My fibre-to-cab speed at every point in the house is now only limited by my providers connection. Finally, how cool do these units look? Compared with the large black boxes with aerials sticking out of conventional routers, these win on appearance, hands down.

Delighted, if youre struggling with your virgin router and paying a fortune for fibre broadband get one or more or these, plug in to the back of your router and set up a new network – google easy and works properly – genuinely made a massive difference
